29YO Dies After a Fight in Orchard Road on Sunday Morning

Orchard Road is known for many things. There are glitzy and glamorous high-end fashion brands.

It is also a place where Korean pop idols such as Cha Eun Woo congregate when these idols grace the outlets of such fashion brands.

Soon, Orchard Road may be known to some as a place where knife fights take place.

A man died after a fight along Orchard Road last Sunday (20 August 2023).

Here is what happened.

Man Was Stabbed Outside Concorde Hotel in a Fight

On Sunday (20 August 2023), a tragedy occurred at Orchard Road.

Around 6 am in the morning, when most people are having a good time snuggling in bed after a long work week, a man lost his life.

The reason was a fight outside of the Concorde Hotel.

There were reportedly over ten men who were involved in the fight, according to the local Chinese news outlet Zaobao.

When reporters from Zaobao reached the scene, they found that the police had cordoned off the two exits of the hotel.

The second floor of the Concorde Hotel was also barricaded, and people were not allowed to enter.

In this particular case, a 29-year-old man was initially brought to the hospital for serious injuries before he passed away there.

Another 23-year-old man was sent to hospital, but he survived.

A total of 14 people were arrested for their links to this rioting case.

There Are Usually Fights Due to the Many Bars in the Area

According to a man who spoke to Zaobao, the police sought eyewitnesses in the area after the fight.

This man, who declined to be named, shared that the typical cases he knew of in the area were those of gang fights where someone dies.

However, he was not clear about the details of those cases. However, he divulged that the security in that area of Orchard Road was not good, and there were often cases of rowdy drunk people being a nuisance.

The police would have to be roped in when such incidents occur.

A restaurant employee, Mr Sha Luo (32 years old), said that when he reached his workplace at 6 am, he saw many police cars and police officers in the area.

That was when he found out that there was a fight and men were injured.

Mr Sha Luo shared that the area had many bars, and hence fights were expected. The level where the incident occurred also housed a bar.
