Some imported Red Bull cans cannot be accepted by Singapore’s beverage return machines, leaving buyers unable to recover their 10-cent deposits through the usual process.
The importer, Vijayam Biz Solutions, has agreed to handle the deposit refunds manually within three days after the National Environment Agency (NEA) contacted it.
The issue concerns a specific Red Bull product imported by the company. Other products registered under the Beverage Container Return Scheme (BCRS) are unaffected.
Affected Buyers Can Email the Importer
According to 8world, NEA identified the affected product as a 250ml Red Bull drink imported by Vijayam Biz Solutions in a Facebook advisory on 15 October 2026.
Consumers who bought the affected drink can email [email protected] to request a deposit refund.
The importer will then provide instructions on how to obtain it. NEA said the company had agreed to process the refunds manually within three days.
Other Registered Products Are Unaffected
NEA said consumers can continue returning other eligible beverage containers at the return machines and receive their 10-cent deposits as usual.
Its advisory applies specifically to the affected product from Vijayam Biz Solutions, rather than Red Bull cans generally.
Under the BCRS, consumers pay a refundable 10-cent deposit on regulated drinks in plastic or metal containers with capacities from 150ml to 3 litres. Eligible containers carry a deposit mark.
The scheme began on 1 April 2026, with a six-month transition period before full implementation on 1 October.
For normal machine returns, NEA advises consumers to empty their containers and keep them intact. Bottles and cans should not be crushed or flattened, and their barcodes must remain readable for scanning.
