The Legacy of 2NE1

For those who might not be familiar with 2NE1 (and if that’s the case, you probably don’t know what Skibidi Toilet is either), let’s take a quick trip down memory lane.

Formed by YG Entertainment in 2009, 2NE1 consists of four powerhouse members: CL (Lee Chaerin), Bom (Park Bom), Dara (Sandara Park), and Minzy (Gong Minji). The group quickly rose to fame, thanks to their powerful vocals, unique style, and infectious hits like “Fire,” “I Am the Best,” and “Lonely.”

During their seven-year run, 2NE1 left an indelible mark on the K-pop industry, earning numerous accolades, including Mnet Asian Music Awards (MAMA) for Song of the Year and Best Female Group.

Though the group officially disbanded in 2016, they surprised fans with a reunion performance during CL’s set at Coachella in 2022, marking their first time performing together in six years.

2NE1’s fandom name, Blackjacks, is a reference to the card game Blackjack, where players aim to get 21 points. Because 2NE1, get it?
