Despite how and whatever ways you can use to describe the Internet’s perpetuity, it’s certainly more amazing when you can actually see it in action.

Case in point would be the this short video uploaded first to Facebook group Lion City Feed on 20 January, and then subsequently onto Rilek1Corner‘s Facebook page on 21 January.

On Lion City Feed, the video performed so-so on the viral-meter, garnering 137 comments and 484 shares. While it truly went quite viral by local standards, at least enough to be picked out by local media outlets including yours truly, on Rilek1Corner it has an impressive 1,160 comments and 2,380 shares.

In this video, a teacher can be seen arguing with a student and subsequently pulling him by his t-shirt in hopes of getting him off his seat.

Here’s the viral-meter winner’s post:

That said, what’s more eye-catching about this video lies in the that fact the filmed incident actually occurred four months ago, in September 2018, according to the principal of Whitley Secondary School, in response to Mothership’s queries.

See, told you the Internet is for forever and never forgets.

What Happened?

The principal of Whitley Secondary School shared with Mothership that “the incident happened because of the student’s disruptive behaviour in class and his refusal to leave it” while “the teacher in question was also clarified to be a relief teacher.”

Both have since been counselled by the school and here’s the principal’s statement to Mothership in full:

“The school views this incident very seriously and does not condone inappropriate behaviour by teachers, relief teachers, or students. The incident, which took place in September 2018, arose because the student was disruptive, refused to leave the class when told to, and affected the learning of his classmates. Hence, the relief teacher pulled his t-shirt in an attempt to get him to leave the class. The teacher and the student have been counselled and have since apologised to each other.”

Reponses Ol’ Reponses

But of course, you didn’t just come here to see read my two cents worth, isn’t it?

What you would like to see is Facebook comments by wise netizens embalmed in binary coding-perpetuity.

More interestingly,  Lion City Feed captioned the video rather innocuously with “Student vs Teacher at Whitley Secondary School??? 😱” while Rilek1Corner did so rather politically with performs an iota of agenda with:

“Wah! Wah! Wah! Teacher pull student’s shirt and manhandle him in class! Like dat is consider abuse a not? Ministry of Education, Singapore Is this how your teachers discipline kids now”, while tagging MOE in the post.”

Many netizens picked up on it and called out Rilek1Corner:

With some going as far as to turn the tag and its intended purpose on its head:

Truth be told, I’m for the teacher and I’m sorry she had to be counselled and apologised for her actions.

That said, Rilek1Corner’s controversial caption may have been the factor propelling his post over Lion City Feed’s one into virulence, no?

Genius, maybe, I don’t know?
