Guys, if you haven’t heard, it’s now a lot more lucrative to be a soldier. Okay, serving your country and defending your people is a priceless experience that should not be valued in terms of money but still, monetary incentives are damn good at getting us all pumped up and ready to get Gold for our IPPT.
Here are the various possible ways in which you can “huat ah!” while being an NSMan!
IPPT Awards
Granted, this was already in implementation before 2016. However, this was a pretty recent increase in amount! If you pass, you get $200. A silver would earn you $300 while a coveted gold will get you $500! Not bad for 1 hour’s work.
Milestone rewards
You can earn $5,000 each time you achieve a certain milestone. You can earn up to a total of $15,000, during completion of NS, the midpoint of ORNS training cycle and completion of ORNS training cycle. Swee la!
Tax reliefs
Okay, this is a more indirect monetary incentive, but money saved is money gained! Active NSMen get $3,000 tax relief while inactive NSMen get $1,500.
NSMen wives and parents also can get $750 tax relief each! Key appointment holders will get an additional $2,000 tax relief. Time to sign on!
NS Excellence Award
This new initiative rewards top performers in their cohort with $200 cash!
Celebratory Gifts
To encourage marriage and birth rates, NSMen can get $100 if they get married, and also for every newborn! That is on top of the baby bonus. Get hitched quickly!
