65YO Retiree Cleans Her Entire HDB Block Once a Week For Free

If cleaning your house sounds like a laborious task, try cleaning an entire (Housing Board) HDB block, because one retiree in Tampines does just that.

65-year-old Mdm Feng Qing Rong cleans her HDB block in Tampines, Block 454 Tampines Street 42, once every week. Yes, while I have trouble making my bed, this sweet lady cleans all 11 floors of her block.

“Likes to be clean”

According to Lianhe Zaobao, Shin Min Daily News interviewed Mdm Feng at her block on Thursday (July 25).

The retiree says that she has always liked to be clean, so she decided to clean her entire HDB block to maintain the cleanliness of what she considers her home.

“I’ve been living here for more than 20 years”, she said.

“I retired more than a year ago and that was when I managed to find spare time”.

Mdm Feng added that she washes the block once a week and that it takes an hour to clean all 11 floors.

She even moves the residents’ shoes away when she’s cleaning the corridors.

In a time when neighbours hardly make eye contact, the residents of Mdm Feng’s block must be wondering what they did to deserve such a nice one.

One resident, 70-year-old retiree Mr Lin, says that all the residents of their block can live a more comfortable life because of Mdm Feng’s benevolence.

“She’s using water from her home to wash the block. There were some cat faeces at the block before but Mdm Feng cleaned it all up by herself.”

All HDB residents will know how fond cats and dogs are of pooping and peeing outside our houses. Mdm Feng is really taking one for the team by cleaning it all up.
