The Ministry of Health (MOH) reported 75 new cases of locally transmitted COVID-19 infections for 7 August 2021.

Out of the 75 cases, 59 are linked to previous cases and existing clusters.

Only 16 cases are currently unlinked.

Promising Trends for Local COVID-19 Cases

It does seem like the gahmen is getting a handle on this second wave of COVID-19 cases.

As reported by the MOH, the number of new cases in the community this week has decreased as compared to the previous week, from 868 to 611.

The number of unlinked cases has also decreased.

In the past week, the number of unlinked cases was 256.

This week, it’s just 170.

The number of new clusters has also reduced, with only 2 new clusters reported.

One of the clusters is linked to an individual, and the other is linked to Sin Ming 23 Coffee Shop.

There are still 128 active clusters as of now, with the Jurong Fishery Port/ Hong Lim Market & Food Centre still being the largest cluster to date with its 1,143 total number of cases.

Nine new cases have been added to the Jurong Fishery Port/ Hong Lim Market & Food Centre cluster on 7 August 2021.

However, that’s not the biggest increase for that day – the Westlite Juniper Dormitory cluster had 12 new cases added to its tally.

That being said, there’s still an overall downwards trend in the number of cases.
