From Uniqlo to Apple, it seems like everyone wants to set up a flagship store in Singapore.
And that’s a good thing because flagship stores are way, waaay more exciting than normal outlets.
Check out the 7 exciting things you should know about Muji’s flagship store that’s coming real soon.
Because it’s frigging cool.
1. It’s opening on 21 July 2017
Are you looking forward to the opening of the flagship store as much as I am? I’ve been looking forward to this date since it was first reported in March last year.
The store will be opening for business on 21 July 2017 at Plaza Singapura.

2. There’ll be more merchandise lines within the store
You’ll agree that you can spend hours just browsing through Muji’s items in a normal store. Well, be prepared to spend even more hours within the flagship store.
Within the flagship store, Muji will be bringing you more merchandise lines from series such as Found MUJI, IDÉE and MUJI Labo.
True to their belief, these are not focused on brands, but on the origins, ideas and styles of the products instead.
3. 70-seaters Muji Cafe
This might not be Muji’s 1st cafe in Singapore, but it might be one of the grandest. Featuring 70 seats, the cafe carries two food items exclusive to the flagship store’s cafe.
Anyone reminded of IKEA, just Japanese?
4. It was initially estimated to be even bigger
The flagship store might be Singapore’s largest Muji store in Singapore but they had actually wanted it to be bigger.
In 2016, the chairman of Muji’s parent company Ryohin Keikaku, Masaaki Kanai said they estimated Muji’s flagship store to measure at 3,300 sq metres.
The real size of the flagship store was eventually 1,896 sq metres instead.
Still quite big lah, but it’ll be awesome to see a 3,300 sq metres Muji store, though. Agree?
5. Open MUJI, a place for talents to gather
The flagship store wants to be a store that “acts as a window to the world while keeping the basic concept of Muji”.
One of the ways they’re doing so is to create a space called Open MUJI where local designers and creators are invited to interact with Muji and each other.
In addition, exhibitions, workshops and talks will be held in the space as well.
6. The First Exhibition is Themed “Found MUJI”
The first exhibition to be held at the flagship store will be called “Found MUJI” that will be held from 14 July to 3 September 2017.
These are exhibits from when Muji explored the world for durable and long-lasting daily necessities from 1980 to 2016.
They adapted and improved said products to suit their customers’ changing lifestyles, cultures and customs.
Exhibition time: 10 am to 10 pm daily.
7. They have in-house advisers and customisation services
No idea what to do with your house? You won’t believe this.
Muji Plaza Singapura has in-house interior designers and stylists who can give you advice on designing your own home. It’s part of their services.
They even have an embroidery station where you can select from over 200 designs and letters and have them added to your clothes or other fabric items.
