A 92-year-old elderly woman tapped into her hidden ninja powers and clambered over a two-metre-tall gate in just 24 seconds.

The incident allegedly took place on 5 July at a nursing home in the city of Yantai in China’s Shandong province.

According to the nursing home’s director, the woman suffered from late-stage Alzheimer’s Disease. The disease is most known for causing dementia, hampering both memory and sensible decision-making.

In the case of the elderly woman, it manifested in the form of climbing walls, wardrobes, and windowsills.

92-Year-Old Alzheimer’s Patient Climbs Gate With Ease

Due to her advanced age, even the nursing home caretakers did not expect her to be able to get past the tall metal gate blocking the way out of the building.

This is presumably the last time they will doubt her powers.

Despite being less than 1.6 metres tall, the woman scaled the gate with a fluidity that puts most of today’s youths to shame.

The 92-year-old showed little instability or weakness, hoisting herself right over the top more easily than I could even get into bed.

The gate was even wet from recent rain, according to the director, yet this did not even hinder her for a second.

Understandably, the nursing home was alarmed when they found her missing. Four cars searched the local area intensively for 25 minutes before locating her. She was brought back safely.

The nursing home has since taken measures to prevent such escapes. Though from the looks of it, you’d need an electrified fence surrounded by crocodile pits to stop this elderly woman.

Elderly Woman’s Climbing Skills Awe Netizens

Chinese netizens expressed their awe in humourous comments, praising her climbing abilities.

One put themselves in the shoes of the worried nursing home staff, saying, “The door is locked, the windows are locked, the yard gate is locked. She’s 92, where could she have gone?”

“She has Alzheimer’s, did she forget she’s 92?” Another joked.

“If I could be this nimble at the age of 29, I’d be happy.”

If this is what she’s like at so close to 100 years old, I would love to see her in her physical prime when she was backflipping off buildings and running on water.

People with Alzheimer’s Lose Ability to Respond to the Environment

A netizen decided to spoil the mood by daring to write a thoughtful comment on how a simple fall at her age could be life-threatening.

In all seriousness, this could definitely have gone badly.

According to the Alzheimer’s Association, patients with late-stage Alzheimer’s lose their ability to carry on a conversation and respond to their environment.

A Thai woman with the disease walked over 600 km from Thailand to China in eight months to see her son. Thankfully, she was found and rescued by the authorities, but such cases could always end up worse.

The disease is not a normal part of ageing. So if you know anyone with it, make sure to lend them a hand when needed. Do not let them climb tall gates.
