A 64-year-old delivery rider died after he reportedly fell into a condominium swimming pool while making a delivery in Tanah Merah.
The incident happened at around 8.40pm on Thursday, 17 September, at a condominium along Tanah Merah Kechil Avenue, according to Mothership, citing reports from Shin Min Daily News. Police confirmed they received a call for assistance at 58 Tanah Merah Kechil Avenue. The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said it conveyed one person to Changi General Hospital. The man was later pronounced dead in hospital.
Rider Reportedly Felt Unwell Before Fall
The delivery rider was reportedly making a delivery at the condominium when he felt unwell and fell into the swimming pool.
He was found unconscious and pulled out of the pool before being taken to hospital. The police said that based on preliminary investigations, no foul play is suspected. Investigations into the incident are ongoing. The deceased was identified by Shin Min Daily News as Wang Zhi Cong (transliteration), 64. He had been married to his wife for 10 years and the couple had no children, the report said.
Grab Says It Will Support Family
The man was a delivery-partner rider with Grab, according to the company.
A Grab spokesperson told Mothership that the company was saddened by the death and had been in contact with his family to provide assistance. The company added that it would cooperate with the relevant authorities as investigations continue.
