Loh Kean Yew has reached the men’s singles quarter-finals at the 2026 Asian Games after beating Malaysia’s Justin Hoh in straight games on Saturday evening, 26 September.
The Singapore badminton player defeated Hoh 21-14, 21-14 to move into the last eight of the competition.
The victory came after Loh had earlier defeated India’s Lakshya Sen on the same day to book his place in the round of 16.
Loh Advances After Two Wins In One Day
Loh’s win over Hoh continued his run in the Asian Games men’s singles event.
The Singaporean will next play either Sri Lanka’s Viren Nettasinghe or world No. 1 Jonatan Christie in the quarter-finals on Sunday.
Christie is the reigning Asian Games men’s singles champion from the 2018 edition, while Nettasinghe is representing Sri Lanka in the competition.
Singapore Pair Eliminated In Men’s Doubles
Earlier on Saturday, Singapore’s men’s doubles pair Wesley Koh and Junsuke Kubo exited the badminton competition after losing to South Korea.
The Singapore duo were unable to progress further after their match against the South Korean pair.
Loh remains Singapore’s main remaining contender in the men’s singles event as the competition moves into the knockout stages.
