The Land Transport Authority (LTA) has told ComfortDelGro to pause U-turn tests at a junction in Punggol Field after one of its self-driving vehicles came close to colliding with another vehicle on Thursday, 5 November 2026.
LTA said on 8 November that the pause applies to U-turn testing at that junction while it investigates the near miss.
Vehicle Was Testing a Separate Route
8world reported that dashcam footage from the approaching car showed the ComfortDelGro vehicle beginning to turn at the junction as the car continued straight along Punggol Field. Both vehicles slowed down.
LTA said ComfortDelGro was testing a route for an expanded on-demand ride service. The test route is separate from the company’s existing Zig Driverless shuttle route, which opened for public rides in June and serves stops including Sam Kee, Northshore and Punggol Coast Mall.
Michael Huang, who heads Zig by ComfortDelGro’s point-to-point transport business in Singapore, said the company was looking into the incident with LTA and its self-driving technology partner.
Separate Grab Near Miss Happened Earlier That Day
Earlier on 5 November, a Grab self-driving vehicle nearly hit a girl who was crossing the road at a junction in Punggol Field Walk. The Grab vehicle was turning left.
LTA said the Grab vehicle was testing a new route. It separately directed Grab to pause testing at junctions of that type while it investigates.
