Unless you’ve been living in a cave, you’ll know about Descendants of the Sun, a Korea drama that has taken the entire Asia by storm, including Singapore.
The ratings of the show has hit a all-high 29.7% in the TNmS Ratings, while even the highly popular Running Man has only achieved the highest rating of 23.6% in 2013, and we know how popular Running Man is (do you know of anyone who doesn’t watch it? Like, seriously!?).
If you don’t understand the hype, here’re ten reasons why you should watch it.
Still not convinced that you should watch it? Okay, here’s the ticket: the Thai Prime Minister has just encouraged people to watch it.
Like, seriously.
According to The Korea Times, Thai Prime Minister Prayut Chan-ocha has told his people to watch the drama. In a government function, he mentioned that “…what I have seen is that they have included a sense of patriotism, sacrifice, obeying orders and being a dutiful citizen…So please watch it and if anyone wants to make such a drama I will financially sponsor it to make people love uncorrupt (sic) government officials and make the Thai people love each other.”
As a former soldier (or to be even more specific, the commander of the Royal Thai Army), he has served in the infantry, and could definitely relate well to the protagonist of Descendants of the Sun. Most military personnel love their country (if not, why join the military?), and with the show about military and also patriotism, it sure is one good drama to encourage us to love our country even more.
Well, so when even the leader of a country has urged their people to watch the drama, it’s really time for people who have not watched it to give it a shot.
If you watch at least 10 minutes of brain rot content daily, you must know this:
