If you remember Zack Ahmad from Season Six of Phua Chu Kang, Aaron Aziz should be a familiar name.
But for now, acting’s taking a backseat while his health comes first.
On Wednesday (16 February), the 45-year-old Singaporean actor, who is based in Malaysia, took to Instagram to announce that he will be undergoing surgery to remove a tumour.

In the clip that has now garnered almost 30,000 likes and over 1,000 comments, Aziz explained that he went through a 90-minute session in a computerised tomography (CT) scanner.
“Doctor said I need surgery and need to be on medical leave for 2 months, but I can’t because of the ongoing projects right now… So, for now, I’m just using the drugs to kill the pain…. Working in pain… ” he wrote.
He also revealed through his hashtags that he is currently struggling with cervical spondylosis, which is the age-related wear and tear of spinal discs in the neck, which will eventually result in the growth of bone spurs and other things like that.
He has also been diagnosed with schwannoma, which is a rare type of tumour that forms in the nervous system.

He concluded the post by saying, “You guys see me smile and laugh but you don’t see it when my heart is crying from the pain. The doctor said that the tumour is getting bigger”, adding that he will require surgery in the upcoming months to remove his tumour.
Upon seeing his post, many netizens and other celebrities left comments with their well wishes.
In his most recent Instagram post yesterday (18 February), Aziz shared that he found out from his neurosurgeon that his tumour is benign and that it has not expanded in size; it was a mistake in the previous scanning.
