Singer Alicia Keys Accused of Supporting Hamas After Posting About “Paragliding”

On Monday (16 October), singer-songwriter Alicia Keys shared a photo of herself on Instagram donning a leather jacket with black, red, and white detailing, with what some would call an incriminating caption.

In her caption, she wrote: “What would you do if u weren’t afraid of anything??? Tell me your truth… I’ve had my eyes on paragliding…”

It’s not great timing to post about having your eye on paragliding…

To make things worse, in the Instagram post, Keys donned a jacket with colours resembling that of the Palestinian flag.

Many netizens called the singer out for being insensitive and accused the singer of supporting Hamas.

The 42-year-old singer’s post has since been deleted.

Alicia Keys Denies Accusations; Claims Instagram Post Was “Completely Unrelated” to Israel-Gaza Conflict

Keys has since denied all accusations.

In an Instagram story posted subsequently, she wrote that the Instagram post in question was utterly unrelated to the Israel-Gaza conflict.

“My heart has been breaking… I pray for and stand for peace,” the singer writes.

Keys’ manager, Guy Oseary, an Israeli-American, also defended Keys.

He wrote in an Instagram post: “I spoke to Alicia and she was horrified to learn what the word implied and immediately took it down. Alicia has always been a fighter for all human rights.”

Regardless, netizens in Oseary’s comments section still don’t seem convinced, with many calling the post “bullshit”.
