Before his fatal incident at reservist training, Aloysius Pang had filmed a starting set of scenes for a horror movie.

Unfortunately, the movie couldn’t be shot to completion.

Now, after three years, his posthumous final act is here for us to watch.

Aloysius Pang’s Final Movie: The Antique Shop

Aloysius Pang’s final movie, The Antique Shop, will be screening on Thursday (1 December).

Set in Bangkok, Thailand, the film tells three stories connected by an antique shop.

Each story explains the origin of an object in the shop, and Pang’s object was a bracelet.

In the film, he falls in love with a Thai woman and wants to gift her a bracelet as a token of love. As his act develops, he slowly encounters a mysterious spirit that traps him in the foreign country.

Below is the trailer for The Antique Shop.

Director’s Hesitation

The film’s executive producer, Dasmond Koh, also the founder of NoonTalk Media (Pang’s management agency), said he initially had reservations about releasing the movie.

“I had this dilemma about whether we should carry on with the project, but I spoke with his parents and his brothers, and they felt that since acting is something he loved to do, they would like to share it with the public,” the local host-actor said.

Koh adds: “There were times I struggled to carry on, but it’s his last work. Yes, it’s short – he has only about 15 minutes of screen time, which is all the footage we have of him – but he put in a lot of effort. After he filmed in Thailand, we had a Christmas party at my house (in 2018) and he shared with me his experience of working with a Thai director and team. He was eager to do well in the movie, and I thought he did well too.”

For those who claim that Koh was only here to make the most out of Pang’s passing, this was what he had to say.

“I know there are keyboard warriors out there who might say I’m milking him for publicity, but honestly, if I wanted to milk him, this film would have been released two or three years ago.”

To pay tribute to Pang, Koh wanted to provide him closure for his acting career. As such, he ultimately decided to release the film.

“Aside from our own feelings, things need closure. And to the public, this is closure – it’s what he can do (in terms of acting) and what he has done.”
