The occasional nausea on long trips is common. But when your body starts acting up all the time, it’s probably a red alert to find a sure-fire way to stop the nauseous sensation once and for all.
If you are nodding along to this article and thinking, “Is there really a way to ease this discomfort on my next ride?”, then you need to read on because I have just the hack for you.
The most obvious way for most people with this issue will be to just nod off. Sleeping will allow your body to relax and you will be out of it anyway so even if your body decides to toss and turn, you won’t know and feel a thing. But if this doesn’t work, there’s always a miracle pill to ward off the symptoms.
Ever heard of ginger pills? Yes, those tiny, round shaped brownish pills that can be bought over the counter at most pharmacies. I know the smell of ginger may not be the most inviting scent to everyone but trust me; it works like magic and sometimes, even better than medication prescribed by the doctors.
For those of you who suffer from chronic motion sickness, you may have realised that many of the nausea pills given by your doctor is also sleep inducing. My point exactly.
The reason why taking 2 ginger pills before you start on your trip is a good idea is because ginger, in itself, aids digestion and thus quells queasiness. So avoid eating too much before a long flight/road trip/ferry ride, pop 2 ginger pills for good measure, and just sit back and relax.
A word of caution though: as ginger is well-known to thin the blood, and if you happen to suffer from an ailment that causes you to have such, please consult your physician or doctor first.
Of course there are other simple ways to reducing the dizziness and nausea that comes with a lot of long rides such as focusing on one spot or wearing acupressure wristbands (which can be costly by the way).
But there are times when you just cannot get rid of that disgusting feeling in your gut and at the same time, you don’t want to be puking up in front of strangers and inconveniencing them with the smell.
Just 2 tiny pills that resemble those Horlicks sweets we all love as kids (and even as adults) will do wonders and make your trip that much comfortable and stress-free for yourself and other passengers riding with you.
