This American YouTube Dance Video Features More S’pore Scenes Than American TV Criminal Minds

Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’re probably aware of what happened in Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders.

The Amerian series portrayed Singapore as a seedy, dirty country with an inefficient police force. And to make things worse, they used shots that aren’t even in Singapore. Now you know why so many people think we’re part of China.

Now, I’m not going to jump on the bandwagon of bashing them because, hell, plenty have already done so.

Mr Brown (a.k.a Kim Huat), our very own Singapore Tourism Board, Straits Times and their satirical script of Triple Nine: Beyond Borders (which I really love).

However, when I came across this YouTube video shared by the folks on Reddit Singapore, I couldn’t resist doing this. #Icantstopmyfingers

KINJAZ X BNGA | Ambush Pack Singapore | #AMBUSHPACK2 (PART 1)

So there’s this dance video put together by The Kinjaz and it’s based in Singapore, called the Ambush Pack Singapore

The Kinjaz is a brotherhood who wants to “explore the depth of their imagination and artistic purpose”. There are over 30 members in the group according to their website who hail from the coast of California.

Oh, they were also in NigaHiga’s and WongFu Production’s music video for BGA: Dong Saya Dae

I’d admit that when I first saw the title, I was like, hey, them Americans trying to get into the Singaporean scene again.

So you can’t exactly blame me for expecting the worst. But really, I was totally mind-blown.

For the Right Reasons

They danced in the streets, inside Gardens By The Bay’s conservatories, in front of the Supertrees, colourful HDB blocks, MBS boardwalk; and the cityscape at the end was just on point

Each and every shot showed the beauty of the city-state, and their dance moves just flowed. To put it simply, they got right everything Criminal Minds Beyond Borders got wrong.

You know what? I’ll stop talking and let you decide for yourself. Check out their dance video below:

If that’s the difference in quality between TV and YouTube, I guess I could see why more and more people are ditching TV and going onto YouTube instead.

Agree?

Since you’re here, why not check out Goody Feed’s YouTube videos as well? They’re so Singaporean, I bet you’ll like them!
