Dee Kosh.

A week ago, the words Dee Kosh were nothing more than sounds your babbling infant might make while trying to speak to you.

But today, these words are synonymous with scandal.

Google the name Dee Kosh right now and you’re bound to see at least 4 million results with the word sex in it.

The popular YouTuber didn’t release a sex tape, of course. Dee Kosh, whose real name is Darryl Ian Koshy, has recently been accused of asking several teenage boys for nude pictures and sexual favours in the past.

The 32-year-old initially denied the allegations, but later admitted there was some “truth” to them.

Since then, at least six police reports have been lodged against the popular YouTuber. And one by one, influencers are taking a break from influencing to weigh in on the matter.

Now, another YouTuber has come out with her own, satirical take on the issue.

SGAG’s Annette Lee Parody Video

As you know, while several influencers have spoken about the Dee Kosh saga, many others have kept shtum and skirted around the allegations.

In a YouTube video posted on 23 Aug, Annette Lee, a Singaporean actress and popular SGAG-er, poked fun at the various ways in which influencers and acquaintances of Dee Kosh have responded to the allegations against him.

Lee’s video starts off with a bumbling news reporter called Clariso Tong, who details the allegations against Dee Kosh.

Then, a familiar-looking influencer named “Xiaxuehuapiaopiao” is interviewed, and she talks about the differences between cancel culture and social media activism against sexual deviants.

You may recall influencer Xiaxue making a video about cancel culture after she was slammed by netizens for making allegedly racist comments on social media.

In Lee’s video, Xiaxuehuapiaopiao, who only just happens to look like Xiaxue, says that when netizens condemn and vilify people like Harvey Weinstein and Eden Ang, it’s merely a natural consequence of “doing deplorable acts”, and not cancelling.

Her director then cuts her off and informs her about the allegations against Dee Kosh, which makes things a little awkward.

Nice.

As you know, Xiaxue has not shared her thoughts on the matter so far, and we know how much she loves sharing her thoughts on matters.

Next, a woman named Irene Tan Kuiren – a “top fan of the Straits Times FB page” – tells us that while she believes what Dee Kosh did was wrong, she can’t fathom why influencers are often the focus of media attention during such scandals.

Irene is clearly a caricature of a boomer, and a convincing one at that.

Satirized Responses to Allegations

Next, Lee tries to interview lawyers, sponsors, and co-workers of “DK”‘s, but all of them seem to have forgotten who he is.

The most amusing part of the video, however, is when “Nathan Hartonope” responds to the interviewer’s questions about DK, by, well, not responding at all.

This is followed by a short clip of “Eeden Ang” casually sipping some milk.

You gotta love YouTube.

While this was just Lee’s comical take on the issue, I’m sure somewhere out there, at least one netizen is shaking his fist at his computer screen, outraged by what he’s seen.

It is the internet, after all.
