You’ve probably heard about how China smartphones have got a decent share in the sales of phones over here.
I mean, it’s really a no brainer as to why it’s picking up. Cheaper phones with really, not that bad features in them, and a slick design too.
If we were Samsung or Apple, we’d be worried, big time. Imagine if the day were to come where these two giant brands don’t hold the lion’s share in phone sales and brand recognition anymore.
And then there’s been this rumour going on lately. About Apple leh.
The company’s been rumoured to lower its requirements on its suppliers as far as the accuracy of one feature is concerned.
Which one, you ask?
Face ID and its accuracy level.
We all remember the glitches that happened during iPhone X’s official launch when the phone wouldn’t unlock.
Here’s the juicy bits about the rumour – it will make you wonder if it’s really true!
A report came out from none other than Bloomberg, saying that Apple has dropped its requirements as far as the accuracy on Face ID on its smartphones were concerned.
Apple had to clap back. They issued an official statement thrashing the report and calling it “completely false”.
On top of that, Apple expects that its Face ID is going to be the highest aka gold standard for facial verification.
Haha, good old Apple. Words.
But the Bloomberg report got lots of deets. Its reporting even has the exact components and the materials that have been used to come up with the True Depth camera array – this is the important piece for Face ID, ok.
If the rumours are true, the chances of a person unlocking a phone if he’s not the owner is one in 50k, compared to the one in a million claim made during iPhone X’s official launch.
Now that, my friends, is a very VERY big gap. Apple’s iPhone X is expected to be in store in up to 55 countries when it is fully fledged out.
Then again, remember: all these are rumours.
So you can kind of understand where this is coming from. Despite all the rumours, iPhone X is still expected to fly off the shelves nonetheless, with some areas even predicting shortages.
I wonder if we will have shortages here. People will surely flip out – I mean, it’s a new-gen iPhone as far as most of us are concerned, and we’d all like to see if iPhone X can really live up to the hype, and then some.
Apple, please ensure that your iPhone X is produced as per the specs you’ve explained.
Don’t downgrade it- hell hath no fury like an Apple phone fan turned bad. So please ah, keep the Face ID feature on point and as iPhones always are, in top notch quality.
Because you can offer free casings for iPhone 4 (anyone still remembers this?), but you can’t exactly offer…erm, components in the phone, ya?
