Anyway, he's Chuando Tan, the 51-year-old man that has been creating waves over the internet for his impossibly good looks and chiselled abs. Like damn, this guy's old enough to be my dad and he looks way better than me! How's life fair? To put it in Singlish and salty male terms, he spoil market siaaa. Recently, he sat down with Sumiko Tan for a segment of Life with Sumiko, a Straits Times exclusive, and he talked about... yep you waited for it: His secret to looking this good! Firstly, he's a strict believer that you're what you eat. Exercise constitutes only 30% of who you are; a whopping 70% is attributed to your own diet. Image: straitstimes.com For example, while having breakfast with Sumiko Tan (it's a buffet spread at Spago), he got six poached eggs, a small slice of French Toast and a small helping of grilled vegetables. Got to have his protein intake, he explained while separating the egg white from the yolk. He doesn't have anything against yolks though, but two might just be the right number. He doesn't exactly diet either; he eats eggs, chicken and fish in a soup for the protein intake, rice (not too much) for the carbs and water for hydration purposes. He avoids coffee and tea, and he doesn't take alcohol or smoke (well maybe the secret is no cigarettes after all). He does indulge occasionally, though. Ice cream and durians are his weaknesses. #ICanTotallyRelate Work out 5 Times a Week, 1 and a half hours per session Exercise wise, on a productive week he could hit the gym up to 5 times, at a max of one and a half hours each time. But he gets along fine with just three times too. He avoids running because of a sustained knee injury but does speed walking on the treadmill for cardio. He does swimming too! Secondly, take good care of yourself. That's right, his flawless complexion and super white teeth did not come from endless nights of partying and not brushing his teeth. He makes sure to dye his hair, moustache and goatee black whenever grey strands poke out too. Older guys, you heard it! Surprisingly he doesn't use a lot of products for skin care. His skin is sensitive, he explained when probed. He did try Botox before, right around his eyes, but he didn't quite like it and has never gone back since. So... apart from looking that good, what did he gain from his newfound fame? (Not exactly newfound, because he did model at the tender age of 16, and became a Mandopop singer in his 20s under the pseudonym 'Chen Yu Fei') He gets offers all the time, even to become a stripper Well for starters he found himself flooded with interview requests and modelling offers. There were even offers for him to become a stripper! To that, he jokingly said that he might consider it... at 80 years old. And then there was the crazy spike in his Instagram follower count - from 95,000 to a whopping 424,000. But not all's positive. There were people berating him, asking him to act his age. He's 51 already after all. Chuang Do had a deep answer to that. I quote him from his interview with Straits Times: "As long as you're good to your parents, people that you care for, people around you, and to whoever your God is, that's good enough. You're so small, how are you going to please the whole world?" Great words, Chuang Do! I guess we could all learn from him! And guys, we gotta buck up! Can't lose to a man twice our age, right?
