Have you ever gone to the toilet pushing what you thought was a “large present” and suddenly a tiny human come out of you?

Although this may seem like an impossible situation, this actually happened to this pregnant lady in Potong Pasir.

Pregnant Woman in Potong Pasir Thought She Had a Stomachache But She Gave Birth Instead

A 32-year-old lady who was 39 weeks pregnant gave birth to her child while on the toilet. She was three days earlier than her expected due date.

The 32-year-old had gone to the toilet thinking that she was experiencing a very bad stomachache. Suddenly, as she pushed, she realised she was in active labour and the head of the newborn was poking out.

“I Can See The Head”

She shouted to her husband, ” I can see the head”. At that time, he must have suspected that she was in labour for he was already calling for an ambulance.

Her husband rushed to the toilet and brought her to the bed to rest before calling Tan, his mother-in-law, to help take care of their firstborn, a 2-year-old girl.

Tan, who lived in the next block, dropped everything and rushed over. Initially, the pregnant lady was supposed to be sent to the hospital but there was no time for she was already in active labour. Thus, she gave birth on her bed.

The birthing process took less than five minutes with the help of her husband.

An ambulance was called and three paramedics came to their house to cut the umbilical cord. Both mother and daughter were sent to KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital.

The husband brought his two-year-old daughter to his parent’s place before rushing to the hospital.

As for Tan, she stayed behind in their house to clean up the blood in the toilet and on the bed.

Tan described the whole ordeal to be a happy incident as this was her seventh grandchild.

Location of Birth: Home

Unlike most of our birth certificates which state the hospital where we were born, this child is different.

Since the child popped out at the couple’s Potong Pasir home, the child’s birth certificate states the exact address of their home instead of a hospital.

Tan also suspected the early delivery may be due to their hectic moving days which only ended last month when they settled down in this new home.
