If you thought that the worldwide craze over Baby Shark is over, think again.
With the COVID-19 travel restrictions greatly relaxed after two years since the pandemic took over our lives, the Singapore Tourism Board (STB) has worked together with Korean children’s edutainment company Pinkfong to produce a tourism-based animated music video as part of the SingapoReimagine campaign.
The SingapoReimagine campaign was rolled out by the STB to attract more tourists after the COVID-19 pandemic took a toll on the local tourism industry.

The music video, however, is STB’s first time specially targeting families and younger children, who are understandably more familiar with Pinkfong and the company’s characters.
The video, called “Sing, Sing, Singapore!”, was posted on YouTube just yesterday (23 May).
And while Pinkfong might not sound familiar, I’m sure Baby Shark, a character under the brand, does.
In the video which is obviously targeted towards younger children (but hey, I’m not judging if you’re 30 and like it), Pinkfong and Baby Shark from the iconic Korean brand meet Merli the Merlion, Singapore’s mascot in the video.
Throughout the two-minute clip, the three characters visit various Singapore attractions such as Sentosa and the Night Safari, and even stop by to have a meal at a hawker centre.
And what’s the background music, you may ask?
The Baby Shark tune, of course.

What the Companies Have to Say
“Travel offers the incomparable education for children, helping them truly interact with different cultures and others’ lives. We will continue to seek opportunities where we can connect people around the world through our joyful content,” executive vice president of The Pinkfong Company Ryan Seungkyu Lee mentioned in a press statement.

On the other hand, Angeline Tang, STB’s director for Korea, also echoed similar positive sentiments.
She also highlighted STB’s pleasure in collaborating with the company and emphasised the main message of the video: “Singapore is ready to welcome visitors from Korea, both young and old.”
Well, I think it’s pretty clear that we’ll probably start hearing Baby Shark all around us again, so be prepared to have it be your next earworm (again).
