Bangkok to be Opened to Vaccinated Tourists Without a Need for Quarantine in Oct 2021

For ages, the streets of Bangkok have been inaccessible to the majority of the tourist population.

The reason? COVID-19.

In the wake of a ferocious pandemic that still threatens even after nearly two years, Bangkok had, like many other places, closed its doors to the public.

Much to the chagrin of many individuals, I’m sure.

But it appears that as the world slowly achieves a higher rate of vaccination…

Various places have, too, become more receptive to travellers.

And so it’s with the largest grin that I present the following news:

Bangkok to be Opened to Vaccinated Tourists Without a Need for Quarantine in Oct 2021

Rejoice, vaccinated people, as Bangkok is set to unveil its streets once again.

On 10 September 2021, the Tourism Authority of Thailand revealed that vaccinated travellers will be able to visit Bangkok from 1 October 2021 onwards.

Apparently, fully vaccinated tourists will be able to access Bangkok and four provinces:

  • Chiang Mai
  • Chon Buri
  • Phetchaburi
  • Prachuap Khiri Khan

And in the latter part of October, another 21 places will be made available to tourists. These include places such as:

  • Chiang Rai
  • Sukhothai
  • Rayong

What About The All-Important Question?

At this point, you may be wondering:

“Do I need to serve a hotel quarantine period though?”

After all, a quarantine period usually goes upwards of seven days, and this could seriously compromise the quality of one’s vacation.

Thankfully, however, it seems that no such quarantine period will be needed.

Instead of the conventional method, a scheme similar to Phuket’s own sandbox scheme may be implemented instead.

Under these safety measures, vaccinated travellers will only need to stay in a predetermined area for a period of seven days, and take COVID-19 tests.

Phuket

The move comes months after another area in Thailand, Phuket, opened its doors to the public.

Back in 1 July 2021, the island had permitted the entry of foreign visitors, under the condition that they’re fully vaccinated.

Similar to the new move, travellers do not need to be quarantined in Phuket as well.

However, foreign visitors are not allowed to visit other places in Thailand within the first two weeks. If they wish to visit other areas, they can only go after the time period.

In addition, they have to hail from countries with a low or medium risk of transmission, and have to comply with several pre-entry requirements, including a negative PCR test within 72 hours prior to departure.

They would also need a vaccination cert as evidence.
