A 14-year-old boy and 36-year-old man have been arrested for an alleged robbery at a barber shop in Katong Shopping Centre.

The man’s name is Ho Heen Seng, and he is a Malaysian national.

Reportedly, the duo entered the barber shop, armed with a gun-shaped lighter and threatened a 71-year-old victim with it.

After restraining the victim, the teen and man stole $900 in cash.

They ran away with money after the victim yelled for help, and they also left the lighter behind.

The police said they were notified about the robbery at 865 Mountbatten Road at around 10pm on 14 Oct.

No one was injured during the robbery.

Then, officers from the Criminal Investigation Department, Police Intelligence Department and Bedok Police Division were deployed.

The pair was eventually identified and arrested within 24 hours of the barber shop incident, with the help of close-circuit television and police cameras.

The stolen cash was recovered from them and seized as a case exhibit.

Second Robbery

As it turns out, the pair did not simply stop at one robbery.

Roughly two hours later, at about 12:30am on 15 Oct, the man and teen stole from a house along Sims Place.

A 40-year-old female victim purportedly lost two watches, a necklace and a bag.

The necklace was later recovered and taken from a 31-year-old woman, who was arrested for dishonestly receiving stolen property.

The teenager and man were charged in court on Monday (17 Oct).
