Think Pokémon GO is dead? Wait long long.
While the number of active users has dropped, and you might have friends who have moved on back to Snapchat after the hype of Pokémon GO, the creator of Pokémon GO isn’t slowing down.
In a recent interview in Recode Decode, a podcast by Recode, a tech news website owned by Vox Media, the CEO of Niantic, John Hanke, disclosed some new features that they’re current working on.
After a series of downtime in their servers due to overwhelming responses, Hanke said that they’ve “kind of stabilized.” He added that they’re now able to “start being a little more thoughtful about the next set of features that we want to build.”
So, what next after the buddy system that hasn’t exactly caused an excitement?
The first is “events”. This feature, or gameplay, or whatever it is, isn’t mapped out in detail yet: it’s in the works, as Hanke would like to ensure that they can handle the number of people showing up. Well, you just need to think of Hougang Block 401 to understand where he’s coming from.
The second is what most, if not all, people are looking forward to: battling friends’ Pokémon. While he didn’t say when it would be out, it is something that they “talk a lot about internally.”
Now, that’s definitely going to get some people excited.
Here’s a video of how friends battle each other on the Game Boy games (technically speaking, you need a cable to connect two Game Boys together).
Hopefully soon, since many people have caught ‘em all, we’ll have people to fight ‘em all!
