The manicure shop, Bling Bling Nails, had pretty good reviews and was trusted by many customers… until they suddenly closed all stores and left their customers in the dust.
Many customers have complained of losing up to thousands of dollars worth of manicures and pedicures, with no way of contacting the owners. Here’s what happened.
Unused Packages Unable To Be Claimed
Bling Bling Nails used to have branches in Upper Thomson Road, Novena, and Ang Mo Kio. A customer, Ms Huang, interviewed by Shin Min Daily News said that the shop opened in Ang Mo Kio about four to five years ago.
Ms Huang said that she signed packages with the salon since 2017, and that there was a good level of trust between the owners and the customers. She also mentioned that the two parties usually stay in contact, which is why she didn’t expect such a situation to happen.
After Bling Bling Nails closed their stores in October 2021, Ms Huang complained to the owners that her signed package still had a balance of more than $1,000 left. The owner promised that after another person took over the salon, she will let customers redeem the rest of their packages.
However, the new shop owner that took over Bling Bling’s previous space said that they had an argument with Bling Bling, and was unwilling to continue letting customers redeem the services.
Opened New Nail Salon, Also Promptly Closed Down
Ms Huang said that the victims of Bling Bling Nails set up a Telegram chat group of more than 100 people, and called the police.
After escalating the matter to the police, Bling Bling’s owner said that they will open a new nail salon at Thomson Road so that customers can complete their packages.
The new shop then opened in November 2021, but it was apparently really hard to make appointments. Ms Huang managed to only book two sessions, which used up a few hundred dollars of her package.
The owner also allegedly said that they’re willing to refund the remaining package amount, but didn’t do so. The new salon then closed in mid-February 2022, and the owner became uncontactable.
