Man Arrested After He Climbed Into Serangoon Stadium to Exercise as Stadium Now Opens Later

Regular exercise may be undeniably important to one’s physical health

But the fact remains that like all things, it should only be done in a legal context.

A 45-year-old man had climbed over the gates of Serangoon Stadium to exercise before operating hours commenced…

And was eventually detained after being chased down by police officers.

Now I don’t know about you…

But I don’t think exercise is supposed to cross the line.

Both figuratively and literally.

Man Arrested After He Climbed Into Serangoon Stadium to Exercise as Stadium Now Opens Later

On 13 August 2020, Serangoon Neighbourhood Police Centre (NPC) posted an update on their Facebook page, detailing the arrest of a jogger who had trespassed into Serangoon Stadium before operating hours.

According to the post, police officers were alerted to a case of trespass at the site on 20 July 2020.

Ground Response Force (GRF) officers were swiftly deployed, and the suspect was seen running away from the Stadium.

A cat and mouse chase soon occurred, and the officers managed to detain the suspect, who’s 45 years of age.

Apparently, the suspect had climbed over the gates into Serangoon Stadium before operating hours and started exercising within the area.

He was believed to be involved in two separate reports of trespass during the Circuit Breaker period as well.

Fine

According to the police, the suspect was detained for “offence of Wilful Trespass on property”, a crime “punishable under Sec 21(1) of the Miscellaneous Offences (Public Order and Nuisance) Act, Cap 184”.

Offenders may liable to a fine not exceeding $1,000.

And to think that it could all have been avoided, had he just adjusted his workout timing by a few hours.

For the record, it’s stated on the ActiveSG website that the regular operating hours of Serangoon Stadium are 4:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.

However, under the Safe Management Measures, the window has been adjusted to 7:00 a.m. to 9:30 p.m.

It’s great to cultivate a habit of exercising but in the end…

Physical health does not come before compliance with the law.

So always make sure that you’re obeying rules…

Even when you’re huffing your lungs out with every acre of space.

After all, cardio may be good for your heart, but it can’t do shit for your wallet if you catch my drift.
