An early-morning fire at a coffee shop at Block 413 Bukit Batok West Avenue 4 prompted the evacuation of about 30 people on Sunday, 11 October. One evacuee was taken to Ng Teng Fong General Hospital.
Three Food Stalls Affected
The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said it received the fire alert at 3:50am. The blaze affected the contents of three stalls inside the ground-floor coffee shop.
Police and SCDF personnel evacuated people from the block as a precaution during the firefighting operation.
Firefighters forced their way into the premises and used two water jets to extinguish the flames. SCDF is investigating what caused the fire.
MP Visits Affected Block
In a Facebook post reported by The Straits Times, MP Lee Hong Chuang said his visit found little impact on second-floor residents.
However, he noticed a slightly warm floor in one flat and advised the family to keep their young child away from the kitchen floor temporarily.
