Hello and welcome to another episode of So You’re Bored and Want to Know About the Private Lives of Celebrities?

Today’s episode is a special four-part edition that will surely keep you entertained while you’re in the toilet pretending to poop so you can kill time during work.

In the past few days, you’ve likely heard of a bullying saga involving Singaporean actor Elvin Ng and Patrick Lee, another actor from Taiwan.

Several other celebrities have since weighed in, because the world is clearly dying to know what they think.

So, what is this bullying saga all about and how did it start?

Part 1 – Elvin Accuses Someone of Bullying Him While Filming in Kuala Lumpur

It all started with a guest appearance on Guo Liang’s talk show, “The Inner Circle”.

During the interview, Ng mentioned that he had yelled at a co-star while filming in Kuala Lumpur after being bullied the entire time.

While Ng didn’t name a specific person, he described his bully as a “more experienced actor from Taiwan”.

According to Ng, the bullying began not long after filming commenced.

“From the second day onwards, I’d leave my bag in a corner and he would place his chair over it and look at me like this”, Ng said, demonstrating the menacing expression of his bully.

The bully also allegedly distracted Ng while he was filming to throw him off and make him forget his lines.

“Then he’d be pleased and say, ‘See, you think you’re a top actor?’ or something entirely irrelevant,” Ng said.

Ng speculated that his bully was irked because Ng had a bigger part in the film. So, the bully tried to “throw his weight around on set”.

Ng put up with this bullying throughout filming, but eventually lost his cool on the final day during a rooftop scene.

“The scene involved a lot of emotions and he said something disrespectful and I just shouted at him,” Ng said.

Ng said he was “angry and shedding tears” because he was bullied the whole time.

He then brought the producer and the rest of the crew up to the roof and said:

“I could have spoken up about this incident on the second day. It’s easy – either he is replaced or I am replaced. But it would look like I was acting like the big shot.”

“It was tough”, he added.

Ng at no point named the co-star who bullied him, only describing him as the “macho type who wanted to be the boss”.

However, netizens did some digging and concluded that the man Ng was referring to was Taiwanese actor Patrick Lee.

Part 2 – Lee Denies Bullying, Sarcastically Congratulates Ng For “Becoming More Famous”

Soon after netizens pointed the finger at Lee, his management agency issued a brief statement, describing him as “polite” and “gentlemanly”.

The agency maintained that Lee was “very pleasant to work with”, adding that the allegations were “difficult to believe”.

“The truth will speak for itself. The other staff who were also on set can confirm what really happened. Our side does not wish to cause any more dispute, so we will not be responding further to this matter,” the statement said.

Lee himself took to social media to refute the allegations, but just like Ng, didn’t name any names.

“A Taiwanese who is all alone in a place that is full of Singaporeans… bullying a Singaporean? Where is the logic? If you were the Taiwanese, would you do that?” he said.

He ended the post with a jibe: “Congratulations, you have become a little more famous.”

Part 3 – Danny Yeo and Dasmond Koh Weigh-in

Other celebrities then gave their own opinions on the matter, with some rather juicy details.

In an interview with Shin Min Daily News, Singaporean TV presenter Danny Yeo claimed that Lee had shouted at him during the movie premiere of Imperfect (2012), a Singapore action film.

Yeo said that in all his years of hosting with major celebrities, Lee was the only artiste who yelled at him.

“It was in the cinema, and he yelled ‘get out’ at me in front of everybody.”

Stunned, Yeo said he felt embarrassed and wondered if he had unknowingly offended Lee.

But it seems that Yeo and Ng weren’t alone.

On Monday (12 Apr), TV host Dasmond Koh weighed on the issue on Instagram, mentioning an unpleasant experience between Lee and actor Xu Bin while filming in Malaysia, but didn’t give any details.

The saga then took a left turn when Koh asked Ng (yes, Elvin Ng, the one who was bullied) what happened between him and actress Angel Lim on the set of drama Heart To Heart (2018 to 2019).

Again, he did not give details, but only said that the actress’ emotions were affected by Ng’s behaviour during filming.

Later, when 8Days contacted Koh and asked for specifics of the incident, Koh said he did not want to point fingers yet, as he has only heard one side of the story.

“It could also have been Angel’s issue and not exactly Elvin’s,” Koh said. “Since we are all on this topic, I thought we might as well clear the air. If they want to, they should just talk amongst themselves to solve whatever miscommunication that might’ve happened.”

And of course, Ng responded.

Ng Responds With a Photo of… Fish?

As if this whole sage wasn’t bizarre enough, Ng then responded to Koh’s insinuation with a rather ambiguous Instagram post.

In his post, Ng said: “You never truly know if you’re just swimming, learning to swim or mastering swimming; guess you’re probably swimming, learning and mastering at the same time.”

“Well, they probably wouldn’t ask themselves such a question, cos they just keep swimming anyway. The best way you know how, the best you can be, keep getting better”, he added.

He also posted this photo:

Given that this post went up just hours after Koh shared his, we can only assume it was a response to Koh.

As for what this response actually means, there are these possible interpretations:

  1. Ng really wants to learn how to swim
  2. Ng believes Koh doesn’t know how to swim, and is mocking him for it
  3. Ng believes that just like a fish keeps swimming throughout its life, whether it’s good at it or not, humans go through life not knowing if what they’re doing is right, but that’s okay. What’s admirable is asking that question in the first place, identifying how one can improve, and then working on becoming a better person.

I personally think it has to be number 1. What about you?
