As a kid, I’ve always enjoyed having different hairstyles that I could wear to school. I would always ask my mom to help me tie different styles because I wanted to be able to wear the various hair accessories that she bought me.
For some reason, my hair was my pride. To me back then, fancy braids were so pretty and I would beg my mom to do them for me, even if it meant that I had to wake up slightly earlier.
Thanks, mom.
11-year-old Isabelle Pieri in Utah loved having her hair braided too, but that had to stop when her mother lost her life to a rare brain illness three years ago.
She tried to do her own hair, but she struggled with it because she didn’t have much experience. Plus it’s super tiring when you have to constantly lift your hands up to do your hair. I don’t get how some girls do it.
The Kindness Of A School Bus Driver
Her school bus driver, Tracy Dean, noticed this when she picked Isabelle up and seeing her struggle with her hair made Tracy feel the urge to help her out. And ever since then, it has become their morning routine where she will style and braid Isabelle’s hair for her.
In an interview with ABC, she said, “I can tell she was struggling with her hair. We usually do two French braids first and once in a while she just wants one braid. I also taught her how to brush her hair. She’d get on the bus and she’d say, ‘I brushed my hair. Does it look good?’ I’ll say, ‘You did awesome.'”
Tracy is a mother of four children and one of her children is coincidentally the same age as Isabelle. She said that she enjoys styling Isabelle’s hair and that it’s not that big of a deal. She attributed her kindness to how her mom raised her – to be nice to everyone.
Being a survivor of cancer herself, Tracy was devastated when she heard about Isabelle’s plight. She couldn’t imagine what would life be like for her children if she lost that battle several years ago, so she does what she can for Isabelle.
Isabelle’s Father Struggled With Her Hair
Isabelle’s father, Philip Pieri, tried to help his daughter with her hair after his wife passed away, but he struggled with it as much as his daughter did, simply because he never had to do it before.
He shared that Isabelle would often be in pain because he will end up accidentally pulling her hair too hard, and then she’ll get mad at him. But one day, she returned home with braids and he was stunned. He was so proud that she looked so beautiful like the princess he always calls her.
After hearing who helped her with the braids, Philip said that he will always be grateful towards Tracy for her help, for helping his daughter become the princess that she wants to be.
It is sweet to know that there’s still some good left in the world, and it’s definitely heartwarming to know that Tracy is so kind to bring happiness into a little girl’s world.
Hopefully more people will learn from this and treat the world a little kinder. After all, kindness begets kindness.
