In case you’re not aware, the ASEAN Summit took place between 11 November 2018 to 15 November 2018, right here in Singapore.

It is a meeting that’s held twice a year by members of ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) regarding the development of Southeast Asian countries, which Singapore is part of.

This year, it’s hosted by Singapore, with the previous meeting held between 25 April 2018 to 28 April 2018.

The last time Singapore hosted the meeting was back in 2007.

So, leaders all over the world came over to Singapore to attend the meeting in Suntec Convention Centre, and well, local foods were provided during the gala dinner to the delegates.

During the Summit, important issues were discussed but it seems like one man got the attention of netizens.

Justin Trudeau, the Prime Minister of Canada who looks so good, he could have been an actor (by the way, he was; read on).

However, it’s not his good looks that made him the media darling during his visit: it’s what he did.

Justin Trudeau Visited Fort Canning Park

Despite his busy schedule, the charming and highly photogenic Prime Minister decided to take time off and visited Fort Canning Park yesterday (15 November).

He’s apparently embarking on a personal mission: so personal, he decided to break his tradition of not taking selfies.

Apparently, he has ancestors in Singapore: his great-great-great-great-great grandfather was William Farquhar, the right-hand man of Sir Stamford Raffles and also technically the very first resident of Singapore.

Mr Trudeau was in Fort Canning Park to take a selfie (a “selfie video”) with the plaque of William Farquhar’s daughter, Esther Bernard, who’s Justin Trudeau’s great-great-great-great grandmother.

Suffice to say, they must be very good-looking 😊

It was his promise to his kids to show them this video.

And by the way, his love for his kids is heartwarming as well. Have you seen his Facebook Page?

Yeah.

That has earned him fans, but what he did next would earn him the hearts of Singaporeans.

Rolled up his Sleeves to Visit Adam Road Hawker Centre

This morning (16 November 2018), the 46-year-old decided to roll up his sleeves and made a visit to Adam Road Hawker Centre, which is near the hotel he’s staying.

Not sure if Crazy Rich Asians have anything to do with his visit, but anyways.

The leader decided to get a cup of lime juice (why, Justin? You should try nasi lemak!) and walked around to speak to Singaporeans.

Pretty sure his security team nearly had a heart attack, but hey: everything works out fine. In fact, it works out perfectly.

Netizens were extremely impressed with the respect he showed to our Muslim friends as he placed his hand on his chest as he greeted makciks.

And it’s not a one-off thingy: it’s like a habit for him. Here, this video would show how he instinctively put his hand on his chest when he greeted more of our Muslim friends.

Canadians are known to be very polite and respectful, but their leader really takes it to a whole new level.

But of course, you’re here because you want to know who’s the fellow who DGAF about the handsome young leader.

Here’s the video again, and re-watch from 0:35 onwards.

This makcik is a true-blue Singaporean who’s only focused on her food, because #priorities.

I mean, I would also choose prata over Trudeau, but still…

Justin Trudeau, the Prime Minister That Came from the Opposition

So, for people who’re not into politics: who is Justin Trudeau?

His father was the Prime Minister of Canada from 1968 to 1979 and from 1980 to 1984. His party soon lost the majority of seats, but under the leadership of Justin Trudeau, the party bounced back and won the majority of seats since 2015, and of course propelling Justin Trudeau to the Prime Minister.

Back in 2007, Justin Trudeau also starred in a two-part miniseries The Great War. Here, take a look at a young Justin Trudeau.

Super cool.
