The streets of Singapore used to be bustling with cars that took turns refusing to give way to one another.
It was a beautiful sight, with packed cars and disgruntled drivers.
But now, with the coronavirus keeping us in our homes, the roads are as empty as the
Goody Feed office, with only a couple of taxis and cars whizzing by.
While this may seem sad to some, others see an opportunity.
An opportunity to finally live out their dream of being Lewis Hamilton for a night, and to take their cars to speeds they never dreamed of reaching.
9 Cars Sped Like F1 Cars in KPE During Circuit Breaker Period at 1.30am
Not 1, not 2, not 5 but 9 vehicles were spotted speeding along the Kallang–Paya Lebar Expressway (KPE) tunnel towards the Tampines Expressway (TPE) in the early hours of Saturday morning (16 May).
According to Stomp, the incident occurred around 1.24am and was captured on the dashboard camera of another vehicle.
As you can see, the driver of the cam car is on the leftmost lane, while several cars in the centre and right lanes raced past him with speeds usually reserved for F1 races.
It seems like the cars were in a race of some sort as they were tailing each other at high speeds. A few tried to overtake the car in front of them.
According to SG Road Vigilante, the driver of the cam car was travelling at 80kmh, which is the speed limit in the KPE tunnel.
There is a lower speed limit of 70kmh along specified tighter bends.

It’s unknown exactly how fast these passing cars were going, but they were certainly driving over the speed limit.
One can only be thankful that no one was hurt in the ‘race’.
Not The First Time
This isn’t the first time that motorists have taken advantage of the lack of vehicular traffic during the circuit breaker period.
In April, three youths were spotted riding their Personal Mobility Devices (PMDs) along the Central Expressway (CTE).
A video taken by one of the riders showed that they were travelling at over 45km/h.
A Danger To Others
This may come as a shock to you, but going out for a car race is not a reasonable excuse to leave your home during the circuit breaker period.
Plus, driving at such high speeds presents a danger to yourself and motorists around you.
Is it really worth endangering lives just to feel a short rush of adrenalin?
Reader: Well, sometimes it is.
Why can’t you just play along and help me give good advice to other readers?
Reader: Well, why can’t bubble tea stores open up during the circuit breaker? We all have to make sacrifices during this period, dear writer.
