If dogs are man’s best friend, then cats are definitely man’s cutest friends.

And if you love cats, these ‘atas’ looking cats are looking for a forever home.

‘Atas’ Cats Up for Adoption but house Must Be Fully Meshed

Voices of animals recently posted on Facebook looking for adopters to these 10 amazing cats. There are a variety of breeds including American Curl, Scottish fold, Munckhin, and crossed breed – not the usual tabby cats (who are equally cute, of course) you’d find in HDB void decks.

They are between 6 months to 3 years old, and are all quite young given that the life expectancy of cats is between 10-15 years old.

However, one of the most important criteria is that your house must be fully meshed. Besides this, you will also have to answer the following questions so that Voices of animals will be able to fully assess your suitability.

  • Your Experience with cats
  • Household information
  • Occupation
  • How do you care for the cat (For existing owners)

Amongst many other questions which can be found on the Facebook page.

Interested adopters should answer and elaborate sufficiently on all 20 questions and email to [email protected] for consideration. Adopters will also have to pay a $350 adoption fee if successful.

HDB Does Not Allow Cats

Technically speaking, cats are not allowed in HDB flats. This is because cats are difficult to contain in a flat and might disturb other dwellers.

But if you live in Singapore long enough, you’d know that HDB will close one eye for this rule, unless your cat went around the neighbourhood to ask for food every morning at 3am.

In other words, unless someone complains.

So, if you’re ready for a cat and have a home that’s not meshed, how much would it cost to make your house cat-friendly?

Meshing your Home

According to MagneticScreen, a piece of 1m by 2m mesh costs about $99, you would need about 1 piece to cover 1 window.

So, it would have already cost about $500 just to cover the windows, depending on how many windows you have. Other places to consider are the front gate, and balcony if you have one.

But the price of seeing a cute feline waiting for you at home (for your food)? Priceless.
