Driving on the roads of Singapore can be dangerous so no matter what, drivers on the roads have to pay full attention at any point in time.

And that was proven true once again on 28 Mar 2021.

Accident at Clementi Ave 6

On 28 Mar 2021, a GrabFood rider took to his TikTok account to share about an accident near Clementi Ave 6.

He was waiting at the traffic junction when he saw a car continuing to drive forward even though other cars were making a right turn onto the road.

In the video, multiple cars could be heard honking at the vehicle but it continued relentlessly.

The car only came to a stop after hitting one of the cars making a right turn.

Thankfully, the turning car’s driver was paying attention and stopped when seeing the oncoming car, or the accident could’ve turned out much worse.

Due to an Unconscious Driver Who Suffered a Stroke while Driving

Following the accident, the rider and a few other drivers immediately checked on the car driver.

When they opened the car door, they found the driver unconscious.

He had allegedly suffered from a stroke.

The ambulance was immediately called for while some tended to the unconscious driver.

Meanwhile, the GrabFood rider decided to direct the traffic at the accident site while waiting for the ambulance to arrive.

The ambulance arrived minutes later and the man was conveyed to the hospital.

Before ending the video, the GrabFood rider mentioned that this incident could happen to “anyone, anywhere” and urges others to “help those in need”.

A Spate Of Traffic Accidents

In the month of March this year, as many as four serious traffic accidents took place in Singapore.

The first is the ECP fatal accident which happened on 1 Mar 2021. A motorcyclist hit a protective road divider while turning and unfortunately passed away.

On 20 Mar 2021, a 31-year-old Malaysian hawker Lau was on his way home from work when got into an accident at the intersection of Mandai and Woodlands Road at around 10:17 pm.

Doctors managed to save his life but he is now left with a hefty bill exceeding S$99K.

On 22 Mar 2021, a bus ran over a cyclist at a T-Junction along Loyang Avenue at Pasir Ris Drive 1, at around 10:30 p.m. The victim was trapped under the bus and dragged for about 30 metres.

The cyclist was pronounced dead on the spot.

On 24 Mar 2021, a food delivery rider, Simon Teo, died after he was hit from behind by a drunk driver in a Mini Cooper while waiting to turn right at the T-junction near Hougang Avenue 1 on his electric bike.

While Singapore has strict Road Traffic rules and even recently made penalties harsher, there are still reckless drivers on the roads.

So if you’re a road user, make sure to take more care when out and about.
