WHO Warns That COVID-19 Pandemic Will Get ‘Worse & Worse & Worse’ As Countries Are Headed in the Wrong Direction

For years, Goody Feed has brought you humorous tales from all over the world in an effort to lift the corners of your mouth and bring some cheer into your life.

Then the coronavirus appeared out of nowhere, like an evil villain in a comic book, determined to suck out all the joy and security from our lives like a dementor.

Now, instead of bringing you stories of poop explosions, fingernails, and white cats newsbombing live broadcasts, we depress you with bad news about the Covid-19 outbreak.

Soon, you’ll start referring to us as Saddy Feed.

And now that the election is over, I’m afraid Saddy Feed has more unwelcome coronavirus-news to bring you.

WHO Warns That COVID-19 Pandemic Will Get ‘Worse & Worse & Worse’ As Countries Are Headed in the Wrong Direction

The Covid-19 pandemic will continue to worsen if countries fail to adhere to strict healthcare precautions, the World Health Organization (WHO) said on Monday (13 July).

WHO chief said that if the “basics are not followed”, the pandemic “is going to get worse and worse and worse.”

That isn’t a typo. He actually used the word “worse” three times, and he meant it.

“Let me be blunt, too many countries are headed in the wrong direction, the virus remains public enemy number one”, he said.

There are no prizes for guessing who he’s referring to here:

In case you don’t know, many Americans refuse to wear a mask because they view it as an infringement on their freedom.

They’ve even taken to the streets to protest the wearing of masks and stay-home orders.

As a result, they have the highest number of coronavirus cases in the world: 3,479,483.

While states like New York have seemingly managed to contain the virus, other states like Arizona, Florida, and Texas – states that had few cases at the beginning of the outbreak – are now experiencing a second wave of infections.

It’s hardly surprising that so many Americans are refusing to wear a mask when the President himself chose not to wear one in public until a few days ago.

Fun fact: When seat belts were first introduced in the US, people protested against it despite clear evidence that they saved lives.

Trump has also announced that the US will be withdrawing from the WHO after he said it “failed to make the requested and greatly needed reforms.”

He has stopped all funding to the organisation too.

The second worst-hit country is Brazil, whose president Jair Bolsonaro denied the existence of the coronavirus before getting it himself.

Brazil has a total of 1,887,959 infections and 72,921 deaths.

“Mixed messages from Leaders” to Blame

The WHO chief criticised some countries’ response to the virus, saying that they haven’t taken the pandemic seriously enough.

“The only aim of the virus is to find people to infect. Mixed messages from leaders are undermining the most critical ingredient of any response: Trust,” he said.

Again, no prizes for guessing who he’s referring to.

One perfect example of a mixed message is Trump’s response to the Covid-19 outbreak in the US. At the start of the outbreak, Trump said the coronavirus would disappear and was criticised for taking the virus too lightly.

A month or so after making that statement, he said: “I’ve felt it was a pandemic before it was called a pandemic,”.

Tedros added that there’ll be no return to “normal” for the “foreseeable future”, and urged people to practise social distancing.

Yes, I know. Saddy Feed has struck again. Hopefully, one day, when this pandemic is over, you can go back to reading about nose hair and lizard rice bowls.
