191 New COVID-19 Cases in S’pore Today (11 Apr); 119 Unlinked Cases & 1 More Death

Many new measures were implemented (or announced) today:

With these measures all announced today, I won’t blame you if you think that we’d have thousands of new cases today.

However, thankfully, our worst fear didn’t occur; there are 191 new cases today instead.

Here’s today’s announcement.

191 New COVID-19 Cases in S’pore Today (11 Apr); 119 Unlinked Cases & 1 More Death

Out of the 191 new cases, a staggering 119 of them are currently unlinked, though contact tracing is still ongoing.

52 of the cases are linked to known clusters while 20 are linked to previously confirmed cases.

Also, three new clusters were found, and they are all foreign worker dormitories:

  • Westlite Woodlands dormitory with 8 cases (all previously confirmed cases)
  • North Coast Lodge with 6 cases (2 new cases and 4 previously confirmed cases)
  • Cassia @ Penjuru with 5 cases (2 new cases and 4 previously confirmed cases)

One More Fatality

Unfortunately, one more patient has died from complications caused by COVID-19 infection. He’s a 90-year-old Singaporean who was tested positive on 3 April 2020, and passed away this morning (11 April 2020).

This means that the total death toll caused by COVID-19 in Singapore is now 8, while 1 person who has COVID-19 has passed away not due to the virus.

Updates on Confirmed Cases

All in all, we now have a total of 2,299 cases in Singapore.

528 of them have fully recovered and are discharged. 31 are now in ICU, and as mentioned earlier, 8 have passed away due to complications from COVID-19 infection.

The conditions of the other patients are stable or improving. Of this group, 820 of them who are clinically well but still test positive for COVID-19 are isolated and cared for at community facilities.

As of noon today, MOH has identified 26,189 close contacts who have been quarantined. Of these, 10,757 are currently quarantined, and 15,432 have completed their quarantine.
