It’s been a while since this has happened.

A lady who reportedly continued working despite feeling sick tests positive for Covid-19.

The last high-profile case similar to this was the principal of a PCF Sparkletots Pre-School at Fengshan.

Despite feeling unwell, she went ahead and attended a course with her employees in the evening, causing the entire chain of pre-schools to temporarily close.

And now, a new lady hits the headlines for doing the exact same thing.

1 of Yesterday’s COVID-19 Local Cases is a Woman Went to Work in Bishan MRT Station Even When She’s Sick

On 18 May, the number of new Covid-19 cases is 305, with only 2 local cases (Singaporeans/Singapore PRs).

And one of them is a 58-year-old lady who started experiencing symptoms on 14 May and tested positive for Covid-19 on 17 May.

Sounds A-okay, except there are two problems:

  1. She continued going to work at Bishan MRT station despite experiencing symptoms;
  2. She’s not linked to any existing clusters.

The second case is a 50-year-old Singaporean who had gone to work at 1020 Tai Seng Avenue, an existing clusters with 124 cases already linked to it.

The Reason Why Covid-19 Is So Hard To Deal With

If we look at Covid-19 objectively, it’s actually less deadly than Sars, so why are we having such a hard time with it?

One of the key reasons, an expert said, is because of its mild symptoms.

For example, with Sars, some of the symptoms are fever, chills and muscle aches.

Symptoms that’ll make you go, ohmygod, there’s something wrong with me. I’m going to die.

But with Covid-19, it’s different.

Symptoms are so mild that you might dismiss it as the regular flu or sinus, and take two panadol extra to deal with it.

Which would be okay, except even without symptoms, or mild symptoms, you can still spread the disease to other people.

Other people whose bodies might not be able to withstand the coronavirus and die as a result.

Which is why it’s really important to be paranoid about your health and stay home if you even think there’s something wrong, like this gentleman who works at NCID.

After all, there’s no better time to take MC (and not be blamed for it) than now, right?
