8 COVID-19 Cases Today (11 Mar); 1 is a Community Case

Do you know that exactly one year ago, on 11 March 2020, the World Health Organization (WHO) officially declared COVID-19 a pandemic as the disease spread to over 118K people and in over 110 countries?

Well, 365 days later, there are now 118 million cases and our focus is on the vaccine now, and the number of daily cases in Singapore has dropped drastically, though today isn’t the best-est day.

As of 12pm today (11 March), the Ministry of Health (MOH) has preliminarily confirmed 8 new cases of COVID-19 infection.

7 of them are imported cases, while 1 is a community case. MOH will provide more details about the cases tonight.

This brings the total number of cases in Singapore to 60,070.

Based on yesterday’s figures, the number of new cases in the community has decreased from 4 cases in the week before to 2 cases in the past week. The number of unlinked cases in the community has also decreased from 4 cases in the week before to 1 case in the past week.

122 Active Cases

There are currently 25 confirmed cases who are still in hospital. Of these, most are stable or improving, and 1 is in critical condition in the intensive care unit.

97 are isolated and cared for at community facilities. These are those who have mild symptoms, or are clinically well but still test positive for COVID-19.

29 have passed away from complications due to COVID-19 infection.
