Phase Two Doesn’t Mean All Rules Are Off

In case you didn’t catch it, the first night of Phase Two was disappointing.

And in case you’ve missed the memo, members of the public causing trouble could lead to your favourite restaurant banned from operating for a short while.

While Phase Two is here, it might not be here to stay if numbers were to spike 10 to 14 days after Phase 2 started.

Minister Lawrence Wong has also taken to Facebook with a grave warning:

He’s been highlighting a few million times during his COVID-19 press conferences to remind us to act responsibly, but now, he’s going the digital way with this paragraph meant for business owners who’ve learned the wrong things in NS (i.e. preparing SOPs and not implementing them):

Likewise, any business operator who is unable to comply with the safe management measures will be ordered to close (even for a first offence) and will face possible penalties and charges.

I call on all business operators to do the right thing. There’s no point rushing to open, only to fall short of the new safe management requirements.

You will end up with further closures and disruptions for your business. Worse, you will be endangering the lives of your customers and staff.

In other words, don’t be a douchebag and cause Singapore (or restaurants) to go back to #CB.

Let’s all just follow the rules and wait for Phase Three to kick in.
