58 COVID-19 Cases Today (14 Aug); 57 Are Community Cases With 17 of Them Unlinked

Even with the Jurong Fishery Port and KTV clusters under control, the number of daily cases isn’t dropping as fast as we’d have expected.

As of 12pm today (14 Aug), the Ministry of Health (MOH) has preliminarily confirmed 58 new cases of COVID-19 infection.

57 of them are community cases, and 17 of them are unlinked.

Based on yesterday’s number, the number of new cases in the community has decreased from 671 cases in the week before to 380 cases in the past week. The number of unlinked cases in the community has also decreased from 191 cases in the week before to 108 cases in the past week.

The 7-day moving average number of all linked community cases and all unlinked community cases are 38.9 and 15.4 respectively.

84YO Man Becomes 7th COVID-19 Fatality in August

An 84-year-old man became Singapore’s seventh COVID-19 fatality in August after he passed away from complications on 13 Aug.

The man developed symptoms on 28 July, and was admitted to National University Hospital the next day where he tested positive for COVID-19.

He had a history of cancer, ischaemic heart disease, diabetes mellitus, hypertension, and hyperlipidemia.

He was not vaccinated against COVID-19.

The man’s passing brings Singapore’s COVID-19 death toll to 44.

488 Cases in Hospitals; 8,286,283 COVID-19 Vaccine Doses Administered

488 cases are currently warded in hospital. There are currently 30 cases of serious illness requiring oxygen supplementation, and 10 in critical condition in the ICU. 7 amongst these 40 cases are fully vaccinated.

Of those who have fallen very ill, 34 are seniors above 60 years, of whom 27 are completely unvaccinated or partially vaccinated.

As of yesterday, there are currently 116 active clusters, ranging between 3 and 1,151 infections.

As of 12 August 2021, we have administered a total of 8,286,283 doses of COVID-19 vaccines under the national vaccination programme (Pfizer-BioNTech Comirnaty and Moderna), covering 4,402,608 individuals, with 4,011,715 individuals having completed the full vaccination regimen.

In addition, 142,966 doses of other vaccines recognised in the World Health Organization’s Emergency Use Listing (WHO EUL) have been administered as of 12 August 2021, covering 82,951 individuals.

In total, 74% of our population has completed their full regimen/ received two doses of COVID-19 vaccines, and 81% has received at least one dose.
