We’ve finally reached the day where we can dine-in. Do remember to return your trays when you do that or you’ll risk getting a fine – or at least a friendly reminder to do so for now.
While we’re at that, we should always practice safe distancing even while we’re keeping our hawker centres clean and today’s report will tell you why.
As of 12pm today (21 Jun), the Ministry of Health (MOH) has preliminarily confirmed 16 new cases of COVID-19 infection.
13 of them are community cases, with 5 currently unlinked. The remaining three are imported cases.
This brings the total number of cases in Singapore to 62,430.
Based on yesterday’s figures, the number of new cases in the community has increased from 36 cases in the week before to 108 cases in the past week. The number of unlinked cases in the community has also increased from 15 cases in the week before to 21 cases in the past week.
2 of the 5 Unlinked Cases Reported on 20 June Are Detected from Bukit Merah Testing
There was another case linked to previous cases but not a part of any cluster – an 81-year-old Singaporean who is a retiree.
She developed a cough and fatigue on 18 June but did not seek medical attention. Her infection was only detected through the community surveillance testing for visitors to 115 and 116 Bukit Merah View, which took place on 19 June.
On the same day, she was placed on quarantine after she had been identified as a family member and household contact of a previous case, and she reported her symptoms.
She has tested preliminarily positive for the Delta variant and is pending further confirmatory tests.
Her serology test result is pending.
She received her first dose of COVID-19 vaccine on 28 April and the second dose on 26 May.

338 Active Cases
There are currently 142 confirmed cases who are still in hospital. Of these, most are stable or improving, and 1 is in critical condition in the intensive care unit.
196 are isolated and cared for at community facilities. These are those who have mild symptoms, or are clinically well but still test positive for COVID-19.
34 have passed away from complications due to COVID-19 infection.
