Cristiano Ronaldo Facing Rape Accusation Again From the Same Woman

The #MeToo movement is still making a very big impact on our society. In a good way, definitely. Brave women are coming out every day. Men in power are slowly being dragged down for their crimes, which is what they deserve.

One of them also happens to be Cristiano Ronaldo.

Filed Again

Last year, a rape lawsuit against Ronaldo made headlines. Ronaldo is currently in Juventus F.C. The lawsuit from last year was quietly dropped.

His accuser is now filing another lawsuit, this time in federal court.

There was a notice of voluntary dismissal which was filed last month in state court in Las Vegas. However, the filing didn’t say why the case was actually dropped.

His accuser, Kathryn Mayorga, then filed a separate lawsuit in January in the federal court with the same accusations.

Why the change?

State Law

She switched to the federal court because of the state law in Nevada. It restricted her from being able to serve a summons in court on Ronaldo, who lives in Europe.

This was said by her lawyers in a statement released in a February filing.

Publicly Denied

Ronaldo publicly denied the allegations and never filed a response to the state court case. He never filed a response, but the public sure did file their own responses. After he denied the allegations, his club’s shares went down by 15% when it was filed in September.

Big yikes.

During the federal suit, Mayorga asked the judge to allow for an alternate way for a summons on Ronaldo because she did not have his address in Italy. The judge denied the request, unfortunately.

Instead, the judge allowed an extra 180 days to serve him.

In March, the New York Times reported that Juventus would not participate in the International Champions Cup in the US during the summer. This was to avoid the risk that Ronaldo would be detained by the authorities as part of the investigation.

Previous Case

In the complaint which was filed to the state court, Mayorga alleged that she was sexually assaulted by him in 2009 in his penthouse suite at a hotel in Las Vegas. She said that she agreed to a settlement with Ronaldo after the alleged assault.

However, she experienced severe emotional trauma at that time and was not competent enough to participate in the meditation.

Peter Christiansen, who is Ronaldo’s lawyer, did not immediately respond to requests for comments on the dismissal of the court case.

Sounds kinda fishy, don’t you think?

But then, a representative for Mayorga’s lawyer, Leslie Stovall, also did not respond to a request for comment on why a new case was filed in federal court.

One of the most popular soccer players

Even despite the allegations, he still remains one of the most popular and influential soccer players in the world.

He’s a five-time winner of soccer’s most prestigious award, the Ballon d’Or. He is also very popular on social media. The most popular, in fact. After he was signed on with his current team, their stock price doubled in a few months.

After the lawsuit last year, the Las Vegas police reopened an investigation for the rape allegations. It was reported that in January, officials had requested a sample of his DNA from the Italian Authorities.

Investigations are ongoing.
