Foodpanda Delivery Rider Knocked Down On CTE After Indecisive Driver Suddenly Swerved Right & Drove Off

It can be dangerous working as a food delivery rider, which is why you should be nicer to them and not tell them to risk their lives even more.

After all, not only do they have to withstand the extreme cold weather when it rains, they have to deal with irresponsible drivers like these too.

Foodpanda Delivery Rider Knocked Down On CTE After Indecisive Driver Suddenly Swerved Right & Drove Off

On 13 Sep 2020 at around 12.20pm, a food delivery rider with a Foodpanda delivery bag strapped to the bag of his motorcycle met with an accident on the CTE.

He was knocked down by a silver car which was driving indecisively on the expressway.

A video of the incident was uploaded by popular Facebook page, SGRV – Singapore Road Vigilante.

Initially, the silver car seemingly wanted to take the left exit to Serangoon Road.

It even had the left signal light blinking.

However, the silver car suddenly swerved back into its original lane, side-swiping the delivery rider and knocking him to the ground.

From the video, it seems like there was another vehicle taking the exit lane and the silver car decided it wouldn’t be able to cut into the exit lane easily.

The left signal light was still toggled when it swerved back into position.

Hit & Run

From there, the driver of the silver car has two choices:

  1. Stop the car, rush out and apologise profusely.
  2. Stop the car, walk out and apologise suavely like the CTE F1 racer

Unfortunately, the silver car decided to take the third option: Drive off, hoping that it’s just a nightmare.

Thankfully, the rider was conscious and could be seen picking himself up and limping back to his fallen motorcycle.

He even had the presence of mind to raise a hand to the car behind, signalling that he was okay.

All the inner Singaporean in me can say is, “The poor food.”; and hope that if he’s in the process of fulfilling an order, the customer understands.

Meanwhile, we’re just glad that the rider is okay, or, at least, able to walk.

Appealing For Information

According to the post, the food delivery rider is appealing for additional footage to identify the silver car.

Again, the incident happened near the exit to Serangoon Road on the CTE at around 12.20pm on Sunday, 13 Sep 2020.

You can contact SGRV – Singapore Road Vigilante Facebook page via DM if you happen to have additional footage.

Do Not Hit & Run

By the way, if you’re ever in the situation of knocking someone down, please do not hit and run because the penalties for that are higher than if it was an accident.

For dangerous driving, a person can be jailed for up to two years, fined up to $10,000, or both, for causing hurt to others.

For hit-and-run incidents, you can be jailed for up to a year, fined up to $3,000, or both, on top of the penalties for whatever offence you’ve committed if the consequences are serious.

And given how almost every car in Singapore has a functioning dashboard camera, you know that you can run but you cannot hide.

The cops will get to you eventually, anyway.
