This Cyclist Who Thinks the World Belongs to Him Deserves to be CSI-ed

Normal humans have a ‘thick skin’ level of 5 (No scientific study behind it, just my own conjecture).

And then there’s this particular uncle, who breaks all known records and reaches for the stars. His ‘thick skin’ level probably ranks above the pinnacle itself.

Wondering why I’m so harsh against this poor uncle? Read on.

What happened?

On 29 August 2017, Stomper Simon was driving towards a pickup point at the mall. Just as he was about to turn into Compass One Mall, a cyclist cut in front of Simon’s car even though he didn’t have the right of way.

The Stomper, like any rational person, instantly jammed on his brakes. He then honkedd at the cyclist (unnecessary, but I would’ve done it too).

What did the cyclist do?

He turned around a moment later and flashed Simon the ‘precious’ finger. The middle finger, basically.

The entire incident was captured on the car’s black box.

The cyclist then began to talk in an angry manner, but his words cannot be heard clearly.

If I had to guess what he said, it would probably go along the lines of, “Eh, never see Limpei ride bicycle, is it? You think you drive car, you power liao is it? I also got car, you know.”

“My bicycle here is called Car and it doesn’t need any petrol, just my love. You watch out ah you. Careful when you drive.”

Alright, it’s just my own imagination. Won’t be surprised if it’s somewhat similar though.

Dear Simon said that he had STOMPed it because he felt it was wrong, and he wanted to let other people know about it.

Netizens

Stomp Netizens have always been outspoken about this kind of matter, and this time was no different.

If words could kill, the cyclist would have died more times than that dude in ‘Edge of Tomorrow’.

Thoughts

Honestly, the cyclist was in the wrong here. He openly flouted regulations and just cut across a moving car. What if the car hadn’t stopped?

You would have been knocked into the Indian Ocean, bro.

But to be fair, one of the comments does ring true. A cyclist doesn’t have to obey traffic rules like a motorist.

So PERHAPS he really didn’t know that he was in the wrong, and when the driver honked at him, felt that the driver was provoking him instead. Alright, point taken.

I guess we won’t ever know the entire truth behind this matter unless we locate the cyclist himself, but for the sake of motorists everywhere, please be more conscious of your actions, cyclists.

You might have a death wish, but drivers don’t want to be the cause of it. It will be a waste of time and they have to clean their cars after.

You know, with the influx of bike-sharing services in Singapore, bike-riders are only going to increase. I can’t help but wonder whether that’s a good thing, especially when we have attitudes like the aforementioned.
