3D Trick-Eye exhibits are all the rage nowadays, what with Instagram trends, hashtags and the constant need to find something new and fresh for the Gram. And yet, here’s the abhorrent thing about it: You have to pay an exorbitant fee for those “hypebeast” pictures.
Pleasing to a rich boy’s ears; horror to everyone else’s ears.
Daily Farm Nature Park Has a Free 3D Trick-Eye Exhibit
Thankfully, however, it appears that you’ll soon have a free shot at that highly-anticipated trick-eye photo.
According to NParks, a new permanent exhibition has been set up in the Wallace Education Centre – located at the 75-hectare Dairy Farm Nature Park.
Opened by Minister for National Development Desmond Lee, the exhibition is reportedly the biggest permanent exhibition on Alfred Russel Wallace – co-discoverer of the theory of evolution – here in Singapore, and displays Wallace’s scientific findings and Singapore’s vast diversity.
It also boasts several interactive exhibits, including the Citizen Science Lab, 3D models of biodiversity found in the park and an actual, honest-to-goodness trick-eye wall.
I can just imagine the hashtags now. #junglelife #junglebook #idontneedbeargrylls
You know, the usual works.
In addition, the exhibition also features a conservation-themed video game and an entire 2.2m wall walk-through display of Wallace’s book, The Malay Archipelago.
Other Aspects
Though prominent, the Wallace Education Centre is not the only highlight of the Dairy Farm Nature Park.
For instance, there’s the community nursery, the first in a network to be implemented in the park.
Apparently, the nurseries entail the growing of plants as a community.
The Bukit Batok Nature Corridor was also announced yesterday. Apart from the provision of more recreational and educational opportunities for the public, this Nature Corridor also enhances ecological connectivity between the Central Nature Park Network and Tengah Forest Corridor.
Accessibility
According to the Facebook page for NParks, the exhibition can be accessed through the Wallace Trail – a 2.2km nature trail that goes from Hillview MRT station to the Wallace Education Center.
A number of public transportation services can be used to get there.
