McDonald’s, just like any other fast-food chains in Singapore, is coming out with new items so often, you’ve started to blame them for your weight gain.

But usually, these new items are rather pricy, and it’s understandable: I mean, you don’t find new bags selling at a lower price, do you?

However, McDonald’s doesn’t seem to receive the memo, for they’re having a promotion for their new item less than two weeks after its release.

1-for-1 Red Hot Spicy Peppers Burger in all McDonald’s Outlet

McDonald’s released the Red Hot Spicy Peppers Burger on 2 November 2018, together with Hershey ice-creams.

And lest you’re not aware, there’s a delay in the distribution of The Sunday Times yesterday, whereby subscribers received their papers later than usual.

Due to that delay, we could read Premium Articles for free for the whole of yesterday.

And it turns out that there’s also a hidden gem in yesterday’s paper: a coupon that allows one to get 1-for-1 Red Hot Spicy Peppers Burger.

But hey: who’s still reading physical newspaper?

McDonald’s then helpfully posted the coupon online for us to use:

In case you can’t read what’s written:

SPH readers, here’s a newsworthy treat for you. From 11-18 Nov, have a Red Hot Spicy Peppers Burger on us when you grab the same burger ala carte or as an extra value meal!

Simply flash this coupon from your phone or the cut-out from this Sunday’s Sunday Times to redeem this exclusive one-for-one offer. Hurry down to our restaurants this Sun after breakfast hours! Deal’s while stocks last.

Well, all I can say is that you don’t need to be a SPH reader to redeem it.

How Does the New Burger Taste?

We’ve written a review about it, and let’s just say that it doesn’t exactly meet our expectation. It’s not spicy enough and just tastes weird, as the sauce doesn’t match the patty well enough.

Here’s a snippet of our review:

Having the burger just doesn’t feel like any fast-food restaurant burgers that usually put its patty as the star. Imagine having a McSpicy and remembering the sauce instead of the patty.

The distinct separation of the sauce and patty makes it surreal.

Now, it’s either that, or they just don’t mix well.

Yeah, in other words, it doesn’t win praises from us.

But who cares, right? It’s 1-for-1.

Do remember, though, the promotion is until 18 November (this Sunday).
