Ex-S’pore Idol Winner Hady Mirza Returns To Singing In M’sia Reality Show

You might have seen Hady Mirza, the ex-Singapore Idol winner on the news occasionally.

From tempeh boss to grab driver, this guy has had one hell of a ride since his time on Singapore Idol.

And it seems like he’s might finally be back to bless our ears once again with his God-given angelic voice.

Hady Mirza- After The Limelight

Three years after Hady left the showbiz, he revealed his plans to focus on his new business venture– selling tempeh ikan bilis sambal. However, the business was short-lived and the license has since been cancelled for non-renewal.

And then came the Tweet that shook the nation. Someone twitted a screenshot of their Grab driver– who was none other than the Hady Mirza. He was a part-time driver for Grab for about six to eight months in 2018.

That same year, Hady was arrested for drug-related offences.

He Was Young and Inexperienced

Speaking to M Star Online Malaysia, in the time that he was away he “learnt about things beyond the music industry”.

He added that he was young and inexperienced and thus had no motivation to work hard.

Hady thought he should just stop singing if he didn’t enjoy it anymore.

After releasing two studio albums- he went on a six-year hiatus.

According to the The Straits Times, aside from his personal reasons, he had decided to take a break because he didn’t know where his career was headed.

Looks Like He’s Back

It seems like he had his fun at dabbling in various business ventures.

The Singapore Idol winner has gone back to his singing roots, after a seven-year break from the music industry.

Hady would be taking part in the sixth season of Gegar Vaganza– a Malaysian reality singing series that features seasoned singers who have taken a break from the limelight.

It was the golden opportunity for Hady to step back on the big stage.

What you may not have known is that he was already taking baby steps back into the music scene.

He was part of a band before Singapore Idol and he had gone back on stage with them earlier this year. He wanted to feel happy like he used to with his band.

No Pressure To Keep Up With Winning Streaks

Despite his track record of winning singing competitions with both Singapore Idol and Asian Idol he said he feels no pressure to win.

He believes in enjoying himself and soaking up the energy from the audience.

“I’ve never aimed to win. Even in Asian Idol, I just remember singing with friends from Indonesia, Malaysia, Vietnam, India and so forth. We just had fun.”

Looks like for our Singapore Idol here feels that it’s more important to have fun and enjoy yourself.

If this doesn’t work out, he can apply to be a property agent, no?
