Earlier, at around 11:00 a.m., one of us was coming back from a coffee break when he told us about police cars blocking the way to a one-way road towards our office building.
Turned out that it’s not just a traffic accident, but an explosion in Enterprise Centre—which is just beside our office, The Spire.
Bukit Batok Crescent is an industrial area located near Bukit Batok MRT Station and Clementi MRT Station.
According to a post by the SCDF, the incident resulted in a partial collapse of a wall and serious damage to the premises, and five people were injured.
The explosion did not happen on the ground level of the building, but on the 11th level.
Enterprise Centre is a ramp-up building with many mini factories.
While it is relatively near to our office, no one in the office hear any “explosion”.
At around 3:30 p.m., when we went to Level 11, there was still a police car and an ambulance. The whole Level 11 still smelt burnt, but everything seemed to be contained.
According to a hawker on the first level, he heard the explosion and the gas in his stall was cut off. There was no panic in the coffeeshop, nor were there any commotion.
Our colleague who saw the police cars said that the emergency vehicles were deployed fast, with police officers rushing on foot to block incoming cars.
