It’s official. It’s finally official. After months and months of speculation, deliberation, and whatever-tion, Kenneth Ma has voiced the seemingly inevitable: he has reportedly broken up with his cheating ex, Jacqueline Wong, and he did so in the worst way possible:

Dumping her in the friend zone, where she belongs.

In an interview with Hong Kong paper Oriental Daily, Kenneth Ma reportedly replied this when asked if he’s still in contact with Jacqueline Wong:

“We are friends, I feel that everyone has overreacted slightly over the matter. It’s difficult to pinpoint blame in a relationship, there is no need for everyone to react so strongly, no need to attack her [Wong]. She also knows that she’s in the wrong, but who hasn’t made a mistake before?”

And to add salt to the wound, he reiterated the “death sentence” when asked about possible collaborations with Jacqueline Wong in the future.

“Ok! I don’t mind, I’ve already said that we are friends, and she’s not my father’s murderer, no need to blow up relationship matters,” he said.

Well, I guess somewhere in the friend zone, a hand’s twitching. Badly.

Yes, folks, Netizens have designated a ‘suitable’ date for Kenneth Ma, and who more appropriate to nurse Ma’s aching, breaking heart than actress Natalie Tong, who plays his on-screen ex-wife in ongoing TVB serial Big White Duel?

Noting that the pair looked compatible on-screen, Kenneth Ma, dubbed “a good catch”, and Natalie Tong, “the best possible girlfriend” were naturally matchmade together by eager fans.

But of course, like everything else, reality doesn’t quite work that way.

Because apparently, they’re like brother and sister in real life.

According to Ming Pao Daily News, the two actors were informed about netizens’ reactions by the media while they were promoting the television serial on Sunday (7 July).

And well, let’s just say that their replies might not be what fans were hoping for.

“Date me lah, someone has to date me first,” Natalie Tong reportedly told Kenneth Ma.

In response, the actor said that Tong was very busy and hence difficult to date, as the 38-year-old actress expressed how she had to take care of her cat.

However, Kenneth Ma, 45, did add that she’s a good person, and gave an embarrassed smile when asked why there were no ‘sparks’ between them even after so many years.

At this point, Natalie Tong joked that perhaps she should vacate the scene for a while, so Kenneth Ma could reveal the one big thing she lacked as a girlfriend.

Dating-history wise, Natalie Tong has reportedly dated fellow artists Shawn Yue, Amigo Choi, and Tony Hung since she entered the entertainment industry nearly 20 years ago, while Kenneth Ma dated actress Nancy Wu for two years before they split up in 2011.

According to AsiaOne, the final episode of Big White Duel will be televised on Friday in Hong Kong.

Whether there’ll be one big revelation alongside the episode, however, will be entirely left to fate and the charisma of Cupid.
